REPORT: Jairo Riedewald to Sign New Crystal Palace Contract

Riedewald

Following a difficult start to life at Selhurst Park, Jairo Riedewald has finally found his golden touch at Crystal Palace to earn himself a new contract at the London club, according to The Athletic. The 24-year-old currently has just two years remaining on his current five-year deal and, for some time, it looked as though an exit was the most likely of outcomes.

After impressing when given the chance in place of injuries, however, the Belgian has seemingly turned life at the London club around. Riedewald’s form has only continued this season, too, with a winning goal against Fulham capping off an impressive start to the season.

Riedewald Versatility the Key

In the victory over Fulham, in which he scored the winning goal, Riedewald was seen in the central midfield position, operating next to Luka Milivojevic. On previous occasions, however, he has been seen playing in the left-back position in place of the injured Patrick van Aanholt

And, it is this versatility which is proving key for the Belgian and his Crystal Palace future. Roy Hodgson’s knows he can rely on Riedelwald to fill in when an injury occurs, whether that be in midfield or, indeed, the back four.

Crystal Palace Seeking Shock European Qualification

After a flying start to the Premier League campaign which has seen them rise to eighth in the league standings, Crystal Palace will be aiming to complete one of the shocks of the season by qualifying for next season’s Europa League.

There is a long way to go yet, yes, but the London club are looking better than ever under the guidance of Roy Hodgson with new signing Eberechi Eze proving key alongside Wilfried Zaha.

After a 4-1 victory over Leeds United, too, Palace have more than proven their credentials for a European place this season.
