Fantasy Premier League Gameweek Eight Picks

Quick Tips

With an international break coming up after this week, one should try and keep the free transfer if possible. Injuries on International duty forced a few players out last time around as well.

Goalkeepers

Emiliano Martínez takes on his former side this Monday. The Argentine will try his best to keep the Gunners at bay. He remains a great long-term pick.

Edouard Mendy appears as the best keeper choice at the moment. Chelsea have found defensive stability in recent times with four clean sheets in a row in all competitions. This weekend’s fixture is also favourable with struggling Sheffield United travelling to Stamford bridge.

Bernd Leno could be a decent choice. Arsenal have the best defensive record in the league right now and their upcoming fixtures do look favourable.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson disappointed their FPL owners once again last week. However, Liverpool have got a magnificent victory in the Champions League which might tempt FPL managers to keep them. Manchester City away is perhaps the toughest fixture though.

Tariq Lamptey scored a controversial goal last week. The young wing-back has performed admirably this season and has a decent home fixture against Burnley. However, the results have not been kind to Brighton & Hove Albion this season and Burnley‘s physical game might trouble them.

Ben Chilwell has performed solidly for Chelsea so far this season and is perhaps the best bet from their backline. Kurt Zouma is also a great pick and perhaps could offer more value.

Héctor Bellerín seems to be the best bet from Arsenal‘s defence. The Spaniard looks in great form both defensively and also going forward. There is a decent chance of a clean sheet as well this week. However, Jack Grealish should cause their defence some problems.

Aaron Cresswell is an intriguing pick. West Ham United have favourable fixtures coming up. Their performances against the top sides certainly offer promise. However, the Hammers have not traditionally been a consistent side so putting too much trust in them is always tricky. Cresswell takes set pieces and does have great potential for assists and even goals from them so could be a smart choice.

Midfielders

Son Heung-min is in spectacular form this season with eight goals already, seven of which have come away from home. The South Korean should continue his rich vein of form at The Hawthorns this week. He is definitely a very strong contender for the armband this week.

Jack Grealish has performed really well so far this season. He definitely has what it takes to trouble the Arsenal defence this week.

Jarrod Bowen could be a nice differential pick to profit from West Ham United’s upcoming favourable fixtures. Michail Antonio‘s absence might hamper their overall attacking play though. Pablo Fornals is also worth consideration following his recent goal against Liverpool.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally scored last week after blanking for five weeks in a row. With favourable fixtures on the horizon, can he keep producing the goods? His price makes it tough to pick him.

Hakim Ziyech was brilliant last week for Chelsea. The Moroccan should do well this week but also remains a rotation risk with so many matches to be played.

Wilfried Zaha struggled last week but fixtures still look decent for him. Opponents Leeds United will look to bounce back from last week’s disappointment.

Diogo Jota is in the form of his life and scored a brilliant hat-trick against Atalanta on Tuesday night. Will he get to start regularly? He is available at a very attractive price, making him a very tempting option for FPL managers.

Strikers

Harry Kane continued his great start to the season with another goal last week. With six goals and eight assists, Kane has amassed 71 FPL points so far and stands as the joint-highest points generator in the game alongside teammate Son Heung-min. West Bromwich Albion defenders will have a tough time keeping Kane out. He is perhaps the best choice for captaincy this week.

FPL owners of Timo Werner got lucky last week as the German started despite initially being named as a substitute. Chelsea had to replace Christian Pulisic who got injured during warmup and Frank Lampard turned to Werner. Will Lampard rest Werner this week though?

Patrick Bamford missed some guilt-edged chances to score against Leicester City last week in a frustrating display for his FPL owners. He is likely to get opportunities to do well this week also but will he take them?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored eight goals so far this season. Everton are faltering now, though, after a blistering start. Will Carlo Ancelotti‘s men get back in form against Manchester United? They will need the young English striker to perform this week.
