Liverpool winger Harry Wilson is set to join Cardiff City on a season-long loan, according to James Pearce of The Athletic. The Welshman spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he impressed in short bursts without ever really setting the world alight.
With another loan move set, however, this time to the Championship, Wilson will be desperate to progress and continue his development to eventually impress the on watching Jurgen Klopp.
Wilson to Complete Cardiff City Loan Move
Move That Suits Both Parties
With a long line of talented forwards well ahead of him the Liverpool pecking order, a move away from Merseyside is a must for Harry Wilson if he is to realise his potential. For Liverpool, too, seeing the winger depart for game time is a positive sight.
According to James Pearce, the Reds will net around £1 million in loan fees, and Wilson’s full wages will be covered by Cardiff, making it a move that could not be turned down.
As for Cardiff, should they complete the move, they’ll be getting themselves a winger fit for Premier League football, let alone the Championship. Wilson could, in fact, turn out to be the difference-maker for the Welsh side in their bid for the playoffs.
Wilson Will Look to Replicate Rhian Brewster’s Welsh Fortunes
Should he complete the loan move, Wilson will be hoping to have similar fortunes to that of Rhian Brewster in Wales. The former Liverpool striker spent last season on loan at Swansea City, Cardiff’s rivals, and went onto prosper significantly, earning himself a permanent switch to Sheffield United.
The hope for Wilson will be to replicate Brewster’s time in Wales and, therefore, secure a place at a bigger club in the top flight rather than the Championship. Should he perform to his best in the Championship, previously seen at Derby County, Wilson will have another promising spell in England’s second division.
