Inniss ‘Glad to Get it Over the Line’
Speaking to the Charlton Atheltic website, new man Innis said that he is “just glad to get it over the line.”
He then went onto say: “I managed to train this morning, so I’m super-excited for the challenge ahead. The intensity in training is great, the boys work hard, so it has been brilliant so far.”
Manager Lee Bowyer was also glad to secure the deal, saying: “It’s a position that we needed to strengthen. It has been difficult as there are not many right-footed centre-halves out there but we have managed to get a very good one.
“Ryan is a winner, it is important when you have players like that at the back, and he’s a leader, an organiser and in that centre-half position that is what we were looking for.”
Maatsen ‘Buzzing to Get Started’
After putting pen to paper on a season-long loan deal, Ian Maatsen, similar to how Inniss earlier claimed, stated his desire to get started, telling the club website: “I’m buzzing to get started. I will learn from the boys, I think I will do well here. I will work hard and try to show my best.”
Lee Bowyer, after securing his second signing within a matter of hours,
reiterated his excitement to have Maatsen on board: “He’s a very exciting left-back. He’s ambitious [with the ball], very good in possession, he has great energy, great pace. I would say he is quite similar to Jay Dasilva, the way he travels with the ball and goes past people. He’s exciting and different to what we have.”
The focus will now shift to the game against Wigan Athletic on Saturday where the two new men will look to make an instant impact for Charlton.
