Ashley Young Tests Positive for COVID-19

Young

Inter Milan full-back Ashley Young has tested positive for COVID-19, the club has confirmed. The news follows the current theme of a rise in cases across the footballing world. Just last week, the Premier League confirmed nine positive tests within the division.

As each positive case arises, too, the pressure will only grow on those left with making a decision regarding the continuation of the footballing season.

Inter Milan Confirm Ashley Young Positive COVID-19 Test

Growing Cases in the Serie A

The growing cases within the Serie A is undoubtedly a major concern for those within the league, and particularly Milan where the Derby Della Madonnia is meant to be taking place. With AC Milan confirming positive cases of their own, however, and Inter confirming Ashley Young’s positive test, the derby could be without stars for both sides.

If the game does go ahead, both clubs will be without some key men. Young, as previously mentioned, will miss the game as he begins his recovery. For AC Milan, Matteo Gabbia and Leo Duarte may miss the game following their positive tests a couple of weeks ago.

Blow for Inter Milan

With perhaps the biggest game of the season coming up, Inter Milan would have liked a fully fit, and experienced, squad available for selection. The Ashley Young news has put a dent in this plan, however, as they look to defeat their rivals without the senior defender.

A loss would certainly deal a huge blow to the Inter Milan title credentials, too, after already failing to sustain a 100% record just three games in. Without the veteran knowledge of Young, it will be interesting to see how the Italian giants cope in the face of perhaps the most eagerly anticipated fixture in Italy.

Antonio Conte will hope the goalscoring exploits of Romelu Lukaku come good once again to secure derby victory for his side.
