Southampton have moved Sofiane Boufal, Wesley Hoedt, Guido Carrillo and Christopher Klarer onto pastures new.
Four Players Leave Southampton
Sofiane Boufal
Sofiane Boufal has left Southampton on a free transfer, but they do retain a sell on fee clause. Boufal’s last appearance for the Saints came in June 2020 when he came from the bench as they beat Norwich City 3-0 in the Premier League. The Moroccan made 84 appearances and found the net on five occasions. Boufal heads to France and Ligue 1 side Angers, who finished last season in 11th place.
Wishing @sosoboufal19 luck for the future, as he departs #SaintsFC on a transfer to @AngersSCO:

Wesley Hoedt Re-Joins Lazio
Wesley Hoedt returns to Lazio on season long loan deal. Hoedt joined Southampton from the Italian side in 2017. Should the loan deal go well, there is an option for Lazio to buy the player at the end of the season. Hoedt played 45 times for the Saints but has spent time on loan at Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp and is seemingly not in Ralph Hasenhüttl’s plans.
Free Transfer for Guido Carillo
Guido Carillo’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season and he has not progressed at St Mary’s. With only ten appearances, the 29-year-old is now an Elche player. He had first arrived at Southampton in 2018 when he signed from AS Monaco.
Christoph Klarer Makes Permanent Switch to Fortuna Düsseldorf
Former Manchester City and Southampton player Uwe Rosler has landed the young centre back for Fortuna Düsseldorf. Klarer is only 20-years-old but failed to make it into the first team at St Mary’s and will now play in 2. Bundesliga. The Austrian had signed a one-year contact extension last year but is now moving on.
