Teenage Defender Links Up With Reading
Championship side Reading have secured a season-long loan deal with Porto for young defender Tomas Esteves.
The 18-year-old full-back is currently on international duty with the Portugal Under-20 squad, but will link up with his new team-mates next week.
Esteves came through the youth ranks with Porto, going on to win the UEFA Youth League in 2019.
He broke into the first team last season, taking the number 2 shirt when he made his debut in a Taca da Liga victory. His Primeira Liga debut came in June with a draw against Clube Desportivo das Aves.
The teenager has shown a talent for a number of years, breaking into the Portugal U21s just over a year ago despite being just 17.
Speaking after signing the talented youngster, Royals boss Veljko Paunovic said: “Tomas is a young, talented, versatile full-back, full of promise, potential and a real hunger to succeed.
“He will add good competition for places amongst our squad and I am delighted he has agreed to join us at Reading.
“I wish him well during his time with his country this week, we look forward to welcoming him to Bearwood and I am excited to start working with him as part of this special group of players.”
Marc McNulty Swaps Royals For Scotland
Newly-promoted Scottish Premiership side Dundee United have signed Marc McNulty on a season-long loan for the season.
The 28-year-old joined the Royals in 2018 but has struggled for first-team opportunities in Berkshire.
He spent spells with Sunderland and Hibernian last season, and the Edinburgh-born forward has returned north of the border.
During his time with Reading, he scored once in 15 appearances, of which six were starts.
