Hertha Berlin Confirm Matteo Guendouzi Loan Deal

Guendouzi

Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi has officially completed a loan move to Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin, the club have confirmed. The Frenchman joins having been frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s plans since the loss to Brighton & Hove Albion last season.

He becomes the latest man to enter an ever-improving Hertha Berlin side, who took Bayern Munich all the way in an undeserved 4-3 defeat. Guendouzi will only improve the Berlin side, too, replacing former loanee Marko Grujic, and leaving his Arsenal woes behind him.

Matteo Guendouzi Completes Hertha Berlin Loan Move

Guendouzi Move Gives Hertha Berlin Extra Edge

Hertha Berlin are not unfamiliar with loan moves for out of favour Premier League midfielder. Just last season, the German club took Marko Grujic on loan from Liverpool for the second season running.

The Serbian midfielder played a vital role for most of the season and ultimately returned to Merseyside as a better player.

Now, it is Guendouzi who makes the switch to Germany, looking to follow in the footsteps of Grujic and much much more. Should he reach his best form, too, Hertha Berlin will have themselves a season of one of the best young midfielders around.

Chance to Impress Mikel Arteta From Afar

As things stand, it looks as though Matteo Guendouzi is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans, both short and long term. But, as proven many times before, football can change at any moment.

A successful loan spell at Hertha Berlin could result in Arsenal redemption for the French midfielder. He has shown his capabilities before and, at 21, he has plenty of time to learn from mistakes and improve as a player.

Perhaps a place in Arteta’s squad is still a realistic goal for Guendouzi, who must take every advantage of the Bundesliga game time at Hertha Berlin.
