Lucas Torreira Moves in Opposite Direction
Thomas Partey is a player that Mikael Arteta has held an interest in for some time. The Ghanaian is an athletic player who can get from box-to-box. He can even chip in with the odd goal as well. Lucas Torreira moves in the opposite direction on loan.
Release Fee
The release clause fee for Partey of €50 million had been a stumbling block but Arsenal feel it is a small price to pay. Atletico get the money they want and Arsenal get a much-wanted player. Atletico have remained resolute, so much that the release clause must be met for him to leave the club.
Arsenal have felt the pinch in regard to finances due to the Coronavirus, but their FA Cup success has helped them to pull this deal off.
Flying High
As talks progressed on transfer deadline day, Thomas Partey flew into London to finalise the details of his move to the Premier League. Atletico Madrid were keen to keep the Ghanaian but their resolve has finally been broken. With both Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi becoming surplus to requirements, Partey will play a key role for the Gunners.
