Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has officially completed a loan move to La Liga side Villarreal. Before leaving on loan, the 22-year-old also put pen to paper on a new deal with the club until 2023.
The loan move will please Foyth who has struggled to see game time under Jose Mourinho at Spurs. Villarreal should provide him with the much-needed minutes to ensure the reaching of his ever-increasing potential.

Chance to Gain Crucial Experience
With 16 Premier League appearances to his name in what has been a short career so far, Juan Foyth lacks the experience needed to slot straight into the Spurs side. The potential is there, yes, but, to realise this, a loan move was clearly needed. And that’s where Villarreal come in.
The La Liga side, often pushing for a Europa League place, will allow Foyth to learn, improve and, ultimately, return to Spurs a player who is ready for first-team action.
Next to the experienced Raul Albiol, too, Foyth will only improve. And, as he improves, so will Villarreal’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League. Last season, with a 5th place finish, they came as close at it gets. This season, with Foyth arriving, they’ll be desperate to bridge the gap on the likes of Sevilla and, in the process, hit previously unimaginable heights.
As for Spurs, now without Foyth for the season, they’ll be hoping for Champions League qualification themselves after missing out last season, finishing as low as 7th. By the time Foyth makes his return, Jose Mourinho will be hoping to welcome back a player ready to compete to ensure both the short term and long term future of the club.
The young defender’s potential cannot be questioned; the move to Villarreal should help unlock it for all to see.
