Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus has put an end to any remaining doubts surrounding Jadon Sancho and his short term future. The Dortmund skipper told Sky Germany:
“We all were happy that he will be with us for one more year because he delivers assists and goals, so we get points.”
Sancho Set for Season Stay According to Marco Reus
Huge Blow For Manchester United
Manchester United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho over the summer has been no secret. At one stage, a deal looked like it could happen. That stage, however, has long passed and United have seemingly been priced out of a move by Dortmund.
The lack of arrivals will concern United fans who expected the club to build on last season’s third-place finish. Instead, though, it seems as though United have gone backwards rather than forwards after signing just one solitary player in Donny van de Beek this summer.
The arrival of Sancho’s quality would have taken United back to previous heights, but, the fact is, they could not afford the deal this summer. They will now struggle to compete for the Englishman’s signature should they decide to pursue it again next summer when a whole plethora of clubs will be better placed financially to secure a deal.
Bowing Out with a League Title at Borussia Dortmund?
Marco Reus may have put an end to speculation of a Sancho departure this summer, but rumours still remain about his future after this current season. It seems as though this season will be Sancho’s last in a Dortmund shirt.
If that is, in fact, the case, he’ll be desperate to bow out with a Bundesliga title to his name to dethrone the juggernaut of Bayern Munich against all of the odds.
