Portuguese right-back Nelson Semedo has officially completed a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers on an initial three-year-deal (with the option of a two-year extension) for a reported fee of £29 million. The now-former Barcelona man endured an inconsistent spell at the Nou Camp, dipping in and out of form.
He leaves at the right time, however, with Barcelona in disarray following the mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich. The Wolves move gives him another chance to impress in a new league with his Portuguese compatriots.

Traoré to Take Up an Attacking Role?
Before the arrival of Semedo, Adama Traore was stuck in the constraints of right wing-back, forced to defend at times when he would be more useful in the final third. The transfer of Semedo should release the Spaniard from the shackles of defensive work and allow him to join Raul Jimenez in the attack.
For Wolves, the position change could prove crucial in their search for another campaign of success. Traoré has proven his capabilities when playing with Jiminez before and will prove them again if given a chance.
For Semedo, this is a chance to improve in the Portuguese revolution taking place at Wolves under Nuno Espirito Santo as he looks to regain form after an inconsistent spell with Barcelona.
What Was Said?
Speaking about the move to the club website, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said: “‘Progressive at heart’ is one of our core values at Wolves. For a member of staff, for a player, for the whole club, we are all making great efforts to progress continuously.
“It’s isn’t often that we have the opportunity to sign a world-class player from a world-class club. Nelson’s signing shows we will never stop progressing and we are still hungry and humble in our heart.”
