Since swapping Liverpool for Fiorentina in a move which involved plenty of controversy at the time, Bobby Duncan has failed to progress. One may argue that he would have been better off staying at Liverpool under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp or even securing a loan move to an English club.
In the end, though, it was Italy and Fiorentina he chose in what has proved to be the wrong decision since. Now he has reportedly been thrown a career lifeline by Derby County, one he must take to return to English football.
According to James Pearce of The Athletic, Duncan has agreed personal terms on a three-year contract with Derby ahead of his chance to get his career back on track.
Bobby Duncan Close to Derby Move
A Much Needed Move
After scoring just three goals in the Primavera 1, Italy’s youth league, Bobby Duncan desperately needed a move. Thoughts of a first-team place were long in the distance. The fact is, last season he was just about making the youth team, and, on the 10 occasions in which he did, he failed to impress.
A move to Derby County provides Duncan with a much-needed fresh start in a place where young talent often prospers.
Derby the Perfect Move for Duncan
The likes of Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, and Harry Wilson have all prospered when asked to develop under the guidance of the coaches at Derby. Academy graduate Louie Sibley has also progressed significantly since becoming a constant feature in the first team.
Derby is the team to go when looking to develop as a young talent. It is the perfect move for Bobby Duncan should it go through, and should put the former Liverpool man back on track for future stardom away from the pressures of Italian football.
