Gonzalo Higuain Completes Juventus Departure to Inter Miami

Higuain Miami

Following a rather disappointing end to his time at Juventus, Gonzalo Higuain has completed a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami side.

The Argentine forward becomes the biggest name yet to enter the ever-improving project in America. The signing is a statement by Inter Miami that they are ready to compete at the top of the MLS despite being in the early stages of their history.

As for Higuain, he now has the chance to see out the rest of his career in the sunny comforts of Miami. One may argue that he still has the talent to compete at the highest of levels, but, at 32, he must have felt as though it was time to move away from the pressure and scrutiny of European football.

Underrated in Italy

Despite enduring a successful spell in Italy for most of his career, Gonzalo Higuain was often the subject of criticism. During his time in the Serie A, he scored a stunning total of 125 goals in 224 appearances.

Many people seem to forget that, alongside Ciro Immobile, Higuain holds the record for most goals scored in a single Serie A campaign. The tally of 36 is yet to be broken despite the arrival of players like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Higuain ‘Happy’ with Inter Miami Move

After putting pen to paper on the deal, Higuain said: “First of all, I want to thank Inter Miami for the effort it has made to sign me. I think it will be a beautiful experience in my life. It’s what I was looking for – a new experience, a new league and a beautiful city. I’m really happy to be here and that it’s official.

“My goal is to try to transmit all the experience I acquired in Europe and to help the team grow.”
