Following months of speculation about whether Liverpool will even make a move, Thiago Alcântara is now reportedly on the verge of becoming a Liverpool player. According to James Pearce of The Athletic, Liverpool have finally met Bayern Munich’s £30 million asking price to agree a deal.
The move is set to be the cherry on top of the Premier League-winning cake with Thiago adding that extra bit of class needed to boost the Reds to further glory.

Many Liverpool fans were left unhappy this summer after being forced to watch on as other clubs happily spend, while they were told that the Premier League champions couldn’t afford to make moves. That unhappiness, however, is reportedly set to change to pure joy as Thiago Alcântara signs.
All they needed was patience, and Liverpool would deliver the ultimate signing. Thiago confirms Liverpool’s place back at the top. He is in that world-class bracket that doesn’t come around for £30 million all too often. Yet, here Liverpool are with a bargain deal for a player worth millions more.
The Spaniard could be the difference-maker in Liverpool’s search to go back to back in the Premier League this season.
Competition or Replacement for Gini Wijnaldum?
The general consensus around a potential move for Thiago this summer was that, if he arrives, Gini Wijnaldum will leave. With Thiago’s arrival is reportedly imminent, though, an exit doesn’t look to be on the cards for the Dutchman. Barcelona are yet to make their move, leaving Wijnaldum to compete in what will be a tough midfield to break into.
It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp utilises his midfield options. One would think that, no matter what, Thiago, should he complete the move, will be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
