Aston Villa Complete Signing of Ollie Watkins

Watkins Villa

After a quiet start to the summer, Aston Villa have suddenly come to life to complete a club-record deal for Brentford forward Ollie Watkins. The now-former Brentford forward has signed a five year deal with the club following the £28 million move which could rise to £33 million in add ons.

He comes in with the task of bringing the much-needed goals to a previously blunt Aston Villa attack. After scoring 26 goals in the Championship last season, too, Watkins will be desperate to prove his worth in the Premier League.

Watkins Deserves Villa Move

Following promotion heartbreak at Wembley last season, Watkins would have been preparing for yet another season in the second division despite playing to the level expected of a top-flight player.

He deserved to be gracing the biggest stage England has to offer. And now, he has the chance to do exactly that at Villa Park. He has the opportunity to become a hero by finally providing the Aston Villa fans with goals galore.

Pressure of the Price Tag

The pressure of the price tag will be on Ollie Watkins, who will be forced to perform with all eyes watching on and waiting for a mistake. Should Dean Smith, who has previously worked with the forward, get the best out of Watkins, he and Aston Villa will have an unstoppable goalscorer in their hands.

What Was Said?

After putting pen to paper on the five year deal, Watkins said: “I am so excited to join Aston Villa and to reunite with Dean Smith as my Head Coach. I cannot wait to wear the famous claret and blue in the Premier League

“I want to do something special here and score some goals.”
