REPORT: Sergio Reguilón Offered to Manchester United

Reguilón

Following a Europa League win with Sevilla on loan last season, in which he played a crucial part, Sergio Reguilón has returned to Real Madrid. With Ferland Mendy the clear first choice, however, the Spaniard looks set to depart Madrid again this summer, either on another loan deal or permanently.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the left-back so far, but, according to Fabrizio Romano, it is Manchester United who have been offered the chance to sign Reguilón.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, alongside the Manchester United board, are reportedly considering him as an option and will decide whether to pursue a deal soon.

Manchester United Offered Chance to Sign Sergio Reguilón

Competition or Replacement for Luke Shaw?

Should Manchester United pursue a deal, they’ll have the added squad depth of three left-backs. And, while it has been a competition between Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams for a starting place in recent times, Reguilón could come swooping in to steal a position in the starting lineup.

The Spaniard’s attacking talent could tempt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make a deal happen. Reguilón could well be the missing piece to the slowly reforming jigsaw puzzle of success at Manchester United with his ability going forward perfect in a modern day side.

Competition From Sevilla

The Manchester club will reportedly face stiff competition for Reguilón’s signature should they choose to pursue it. According to Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla- the team who knocked Manchester United out of the Europa League- have asked Real Madrid to have Reguilón back on loan after an impressive spell last season.

The transfer saga will be an interesting one should both clubs get involved. It looks as though Reguilón will have the option of familiar territory in a loan move to Sevilla or the chance to grace the Premier League and Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
