‘Kalidou Koulibaly Can Leave’ Says Napoli President

Koulibaly Napoli

In an unexpected turn of events, the Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has stated that Kalidou Koulibaly can leave the club this summer. When asked about the centre-back’s future, Laurentiis replied: “Koulibaly can leave the club, yes. If some club will make an important bid, we will let him go on this summer.”

The Napoli president also confirmed that the same applies to Arkadiusz Milik this summer as he too searches for a new club.

Napoli President Willing to Let Kalidou Koulibaly Leave

Manchester City’s Chance to Make a Deal Happen?

After negotiations fell through at the last hurdle in a deal for Jorginho a couple of summers ago, Manchester City’s relationship with Napoli soured significantly as Jorginho opted for a move to Chelsea instead.

Now, a couple of years later, the two clubs are reportedly finding it difficult to work together in finding a suitable deal for Koulibaly.

The comments from the Napoli president should give City plenty of hope that a deal can be made, however. It certainly seems as though, for the right price, Koulibaly will leave the Italian club this summer.

Whilst no agreement has been made as of yet, Manchester City have opened talks for the central defender. According to Fabrizio Romano, the reason for the lack of developments is because it is, in fact, Koulibaly’s agent who is working on the deal with the two clubs.

The relationship between the two clubs soured so much after the Jorginho deal that they are unable to seemingly work directly together.

The Chance to Conquer the Premier League

Kalidou Koulibaly has spent years at Napoli and in the Seria A, battling it out with some of Italy’s best forwards. Now could be the time for a new challenge, however, with the Premier League awaiting yet another top centre back.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether Manchester City complete a deal this summer.
