According to the Telegraph, senior figures at Barcelona expect Lionel Messi to join Manchester City if he decided to depart this summer. The news follows the bombshell of the Argentine forward’s reported will to leave the club after a nightmare season.
It would certainly be a fitting farewell for Messi to join forces with Pep Guardiola once again, and potentially win the Champions League for the first time in City’s history.

Messi undoubtedly has the talents to perform in any league in the world. He takes to the Champions League year in year out and scores against top teams around Europe with ease.
He may not have endured the best of times in the competition recently, but he has still blessed Europe’s biggest stage with his talent.
Whenever the Barcelona legend comes up against the Premier League top six, too, he sweeps them aside like they are nothing but a mid-table club.
One can only imagine the scenes should Messi opt for a move to the Premier League, and the dominance that would ensue, especially if reports are to be believed of a potential Manchester City move.
Is a Move Feasible?
Every team in the world is currently dreaming of seeing Messi in their famous colours, but, in reality, not many can afford him. The fact is, only the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain would be in a strong enough position financially to secure his services.
Even they would struggle to pay the £980,000 per week wages plus all the bonuses on top of that. Securing a deal for Messi this summer may be the dream, but it may not be feasible enough for a club to secure his services.
It will certainly be interesting to watch on as this develops, and whether Lionel Messi finally bows out a Barcelona legend.
