Following a fairly average season with AS Roma, finishing 5th in the Serie A, Aleksandar Kolarov is looking to reach new heights once more. And, according to Fabrizio Romano, those new heights will be reached with Inter Milan this season.
The former Manchester City man has reportedly agreed personal terms with Inter with a deal between Roma and Inter expected to be completed in the next few hours. The 34-year-old is looking likely to endure one last hurrah in Italy before bowing out of the beautiful game.
Kolarov Set to Sign for Inter Milan
One Last Title?
Last season, Inter Milan came within inches of glory in both the Serie A and Europa League. In the Serie A, they finished just one point behind champions Juventus before suffering defeat at the hands of Sevilla in the Europa League final. It was as heartbreaking as heartbreaking gets for Antonio Conte’s side. But this should just be the beginning.
By introducing an experienced winner like Kolarov, Conte may just tip the edge from failure to success to once again reach the summit of football. The ageing fullback will also be desperate for success himself in Italy after failing to find it in Rome.
The former Premier League winner has a plethora of achievements under his belt but will be keen to enjoy one last success story. Whether he will receive consistent game time is yet to be seen, however, as he enters his last years in football and, therefore, past what is considered his peak years.
Conte will be pleased to gain an experienced member of the squad should a deal go through, but may realise a starting place is not on the cards. Sometimes, though, adding depth to a squad can be the difference-maker in winning and losing a title race.
