Cardiff City have signed Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Neil Harris Bolsters Attacking Options With Kieffer Moore Addition
Kieffer Moore Heads to Cardiff City
Moore, 28, has completed a move to the Welsh club. Cardiff City had a bid rejected in January – believed to be £2.3 million.
Wigan Athletic have since gone into administration and will be keen to level their books.
The Latics were relegated to League One and, according to BBC Sport, would settle for a fee of around £2 million.
Wales Online claim personal terms took longer to agree, but the fee is somewhere between £1.5 million and £2 million.
Moore, who was also a summer target for Middlesbrough, scored ten goals for Wigan last season.
The 6’5” striker, often utilised as a target man, scored goals against Slovakia and Azerbaijan as Wales’ Euro 2020 qualification campaign was kept alive.
Attacking Options
The move comes as a welcome boost to Cardiff City’s attacking options.
With Danny Ward set to depart the Welsh side, and Omar Bogle released, Neil Harris needs to add to his strike department.
Lee Tomlin ended the season as league top-scorer for the Bluebirds, netting eight goals.
Robert Glatzel, midfielder Joe Ralls and winger Junior Hoilett all added seven goals each.
Cardiff City finished fifth in the Championship before losing to eventual play-off winners Fulham.
The summer transfer window closes at 11pm on October 5. An additional domestic window runs until 5pm on October 16.
Up and Down Strike Rate
Moore’s goalscoring record has proven to be inconsistent with previous clubs.
The 28-year-old scored four goals in 33 appearances for Yeovil during the 2014/15 season.
He joined Norwegian side Viking Stavanger during 2015 but failed to score in 11 appearances.
Spells with Forest Green Rovers and Torquay United followed before a move to Championship side Ipswich Town.
Moore failed to score in 11 appearances for the Tractor Boys, leaving a year later to join Rotherham United.
He scored 13 goals in 22 appearances in League One with the Millers.
Four Championship goals with Barnsley, and 17 with the Tykes in League One, shortly followed before he joined Wigan Athletic.
