Tottenham legend Ledley King has been appointed as the club’s new First-Team Assistant.

What is His New Role?
The 39-year-old will be working alongside Jose Mourinho’s current staff, as well as those in the academy.
King will be supporting Mourinho and his players in all capacities. Furthermore, he will also help aid the development of academy players, and advise the Spurs boss on when they are ready for the first-team.
The former defender and Tottenham legend has been working in an ambassadorial role at the club since his retirement eight years ago.
King, despite large portions of his career being marred by a persistent knee injury, spent his entire career with the North London club.
More often than not, a reoccurring knee injury meant that he played through the pain barrier. However, his career was carefully managed, meaning he made a total of 323 appearances for the club.
King was also captain for Tottenham’s most recent piece of silverware. He led his team out at Wembley to oversee a 2-1 against Chelsea.
As a result, he has gone down in history as a fans’ favourite, and a much-loved figure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
What Was Said?
Speaking about the arrival of King, Spurs boss Mourinho said: “I am extremely pleased to be welcoming Ledley into the first team group as we continue our preparations for the new season.
“He has a tremendous affinity with this football club and the fans appreciate just how much he has accomplished as a true Spurs man both on and off the pitch.
“We have developed a good relationship since I arrived, and we hope to use his experience and insight to support the work we are doing with the squad.”
As well as the arrival of King, Tottenham have also confirmed that Ricardo Formosinho has left the club.
