After impressing out on loan this season, Alexis Sánchez is close to agreeing a permanent switch from Manchester United to Inter Milan. According to Fabrizio Romano, the forward has already agreed personal terms with the Italian club, with final details set to be completed.
The news of Sánchez’s potential exit comes as reports of Jadon Sancho’s arrival heat up significantly- making for a busy day on the transfer front for Manchester United.
Inter Milan Close to Agreeing Alexis Sanchez Deal
A Fresh Start
Upon his arrival to Manchester United in January of 2018, many expected Alexis Sánchez to be the difference-maker at Old Trafford. Over two years later, however, and things have gone in the complete opposite direction. Instead of starring for United, he failed. As a result, the 31-year-old was slowly integrated out of the team before joining Inter Milan on loan last summer.
Since swapping Manchester for Milan, Sánchez has looked more like the feared, creative winger often seen driving at defences for Arsenal. The Chile international has done more than enough to persuade Conte to pursue a permanent move this summer. His post lockdown form has seen him score three times.
According to Romano, his excessive wage will not be an issue, either. It is understood that Inter will pay no transfer fee for the Manchester United man, but will cover his full wage, paying £7 million a year.
Inter Milan: A Growing Threat Once Again
The move seems to suit all parties; Manchester United have the chance to offload Sánchez and his needlessly high wage, while Inter Milan have the chance to further add to a squad ready for another title charge.
Inter Milan could have some squad on their hands next season ahead of another title challenge. This season, they came close; next season, they may find themselves at the summit of Italian football once more.
