In a busy day of dealing, Manchester City have announced the signing of Pablo Moreno just after selling Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich. Moreno has been playing with Juventus Primavera and makes the move to City in a swap with Portuguese youth international Felix Correia.
Manchester City Announce Signing of Pablo Moreno
An Exciting Talent
Pablo Moreno is, at the very least, an interesting prospect. Capped by both the Spanish U16s and U19s, Moreno cut his teeth at Barcelona’s La Masia before moving to Juventus in 2018. He is a right-footed hybrid forward. He plays both on wings and as a central striker. However, he is at his best cutting inside from the left onto his favoured right foot.
Moreno comes to City with plenty of goal-scoring pedigree. He scored four goals in his three UEFA Youth League games for Juventus this season. He also put up some outrageous numbers while playing in La Masia, but obviously, youth stats should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Before City fans get too excited to see him this season, there is a catch. According to multiple City sources, including Sam Lee of The Athletic, Moreno is set to go straight out on loan for next season. He will be sent to City Football Group club Girona, who are currently fighting for promotion in the Spanish second division. It is not yet known whether a promotion will affect whether or not Moreno completes the move.
Jayden Braaf
The signing of Pablo Moreno is not the only big news for City youth fans. Highly regarded prospect Jayden Braaf has been called back to Manchester to begin training with the first team. Manchester City youth teams have not returned from the COVID-19 enforced break yet, so Braaf’s return is important. It is a clear signal that City plans to have Braaf as a part of the squad in the near future.
