It’s almost a foregone conclusion that Ralf Rangnick will become AC Milan‘s next manager. Rangnick’s familiarity with German football will likely mean Bundesliga targets for Milan in the next transfer window. Gianluca di Marzio reported that Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has met with Rangnick, and the two have highlighted three transfer targets.
Bundesliga Targets for AC Milan
Patrick Schick
It’s no guarantee that either of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Ante Rebic will remain with Milan. That would leave the young Rafael Leão as Milan’s main striker. Furthermore, if Rebic were to remain, he is more of a winger.
Enter Patrick Schick.
The Czech international is currently on loan at RB Leipzig from AS Roma. He’s been successful as second-fiddle to Timo Werner, scoring ten goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances. He also has Serie A experience, playing for Roma and Sampdoria in the past.
Schick is a technically-sound striker with a strong frame. With this being said, he also has plenty of pace, something sorely needed in Milan’s attack. He can also create, which would be highly beneficial for Rebic if retained. Rebic has been on a hot scoring streak, and Schick would only help. At just 24-years-of-age, Schick fits the profile Milan is searching for and the interest has been reported by Calciomercato.
Dayot Upamecano
Dayot Upamecano is seen as an up-and-comer in the football world. The French centre-back is only 21, and already shining in the Bundesliga. Like Schick, Upamecano is also a member of RB Leipzig’s strong, young squad.
Upamecano is an aggressive-styled defender, one who will stick to opposing forwards all game long. His positioning and willingness to commit is already at a world-class level. Milan have struggled to find the ideal partner in defence alongside Alessio Romagnoli. Upamecano more than fits the bill and Gianluca Di Marzio has reported Milan’s interest. He would, however, be the most expensive of the three Bundesliga targets for Milan. Expect many clubs to chase him in the next transfer window.
Milot Rashica
Milot Rashica is a newer name in the football world. In 27 league games this season, the winger has scored seven goals and provided five assists for Werder Bremen. Wing play has been weak at Milan this past decade, so Rashica would certainly help.
He thrives in the counter-attack and often cuts to the right for a shot. One could say his attacking traits resemble that of former Milan winger Suso. With a lack of depth at the club, Rashica’s endless energy will be valuable.
Like the aforementioned players, Rashica is also young at just 23. He would be a welcome addition to Rangnick’s project, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. If Werder Bremen face relegation, and the odds are increasing, Rashica will have a release clause of just €16 million.
