Paris Saint-Germain have been dominating Ligue 1 for years now with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe helping to continue this success in the past few seasons. But, before they came along, it was Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani, PSG’s all-time top goalscorer, who were helping to provide the silverware.
After seven and eight years at PSG respectively, the two will undoubtedly be remembered as club legends. Like any good thing, however, their time at Paris was always going to find its end. And, after failing to renew their contracts, that inevitable end is set to come this summer, which sporting director Leonardo has confirmed.

New Beginnings
Despite being in their mid-30s, both Cavani and Silva will see this as an opportunity to once again prove themselves for one last hurrah. Silva, 35, and his experience of playing at the top would offer many clubs the missing piece to their currently unsolved defensive puzzle. The Brazillian could even turn out to be the bargain of the summer.
Cavani, too, at 33, still has plenty left in the tank and plenty of goals left in those golden boots of his. Just a season ago, with consistent playing time, Cavani netted a total of 23 goals, with 18 of those coming in a total of 21 Ligue 1 appearances. His ruthlessness in front of goal could take any team up to the next level.
Both players will need to keep themselves available for contact in the summer because of the amount of interest they are likely to receive due to both the fee and world-class nature of the players.
