With the Premier League’s return delayed until the 1st of June, many fans will be disappointed at the prospect of not seeing their stars until at least next month. However, those same disappointed fans can still catch a glimpse of Premier League players; the Bundesliga returns this weekend, featuring some Premier League loanees. Fans of England’s top division will be able to see the likes of Ethan Ampadu and Marko Grujic back in action as they continue their loan spells in Germany. With that said, here are three Premier League loanees to look out for in the Bundesliga.
3 Premier League Loanees to Look out for in the Bundesliga
Jonjoe Kenny
Jonjoe Kenny will be mostly remembered by Premier League fans for his derby debut goal in a 3-1 loss to Liverpool. Fans of the Bundesliga, however, will know Kenny for his solid performances down Schalke‘s right; the on-loan Everton fullback has made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga this season. Kenny has played a key role in a Schalke team looking to secure a top-six finish. They are one point clear of seventh place at the time of writing and on course to secure their target.
Everton fans will be keeping an eye on the on-loan fullback ahead of his return to Merseyside next season.
Marko Grujic
Again, much like Kenny, Liverpool fans will probably only remember Marko Grujic for his goal against Barcelona; the Serbian scored an incredible header in a 4-0 friendly victory in 2016. Almost four years on from that game, however, and Grujic has made somewhat of a name for himself in Germany. The on-loan Liverpool midfielder has made 22 appearances, scoring three goals in the process for Hertha Berlin- including a goal against Bayern Munich.
And, with Adam Lallana set to leave in the summer, the Serbian could be set to replace the Englishman next season. Grujic’s all-round ability in midfield is clear. Defensively the on loan Hertha Berlin man has made 1.4 tackles per game. Meanwhile, offensively he has contributed to five goals this season.
Ethan Ampadu
Previously known for his long dreadlocks, Ethan Ampadu has slowly but surely proved himself in the Bundesliga. The central defender originally struggled for game time at Leipzig, but recently starred in a 1-0 victory away to Spurs; it was a game where Ampadu finally won the trust of Julian Nagglesmann. Now, as the Bundesliga returns, we may see the Chelsea youngster given more of an opportunity in Germany.
Frank Lampard will certainly be keeping an eye of the 19-year-old as he looks to add yet another young talent to his ever-improving Chelsea squad next season.
