Casemiro Agrees to Extend Madrid Contract
Talks Have Been Ongoing and Looked to Have Reached a Conclusion
Mundo Deportivo from Spain reports that Real Madrid have been in contract talks with Casemiro over the past week, with the Spanish side looking to extend contracts for many of their star first-team players. Apparently, Casemiro will be the first to do so.
Furthermore, the writers at Caught Offside state, via Mundo Deportivo, that: “talks regarding a new deal for [the Madrid midfielder] until 2023 had already started. However, the coronavirus pandemic has since halted these negotiations. It’s even added that [he] has offers from other teams.” It seems, though, that Los Blancos have tied down their man.
Get Spanish Football posted a tweet on May 12, 2020, stating: “Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has renewed his contract at the club. The renewal will be made official at the end of the season, according to [Onda Cero]. More follows.”
Brazilian Workhorse Seeks Ten Year Stay at Madrid
This new contract deal means that the Brazilian could see out his contract to make it ten years at the club. He signed in 2013 from Sao Paolo, and after a loan deal at Porto in 2014 was thrust into Madrid’s first team. He has made 229 appearances for Real Madrid’s first and B teams.
The defensive midfielder has proven to be one of the best in his position in recent years and should command a hefty salary. He is currently on just £90,000 a week. A player of his calibre could easily demand over £250,000-per-week, but it remains to be seen.
All in all, this is just one extension that Real Madrid needed to get out of the way.
