REPORT: Paris Saint-Germain Interested In Wilfred Ndidi

After another impressive season at Leicester City, playing a pivotal role in the Foxes’ rise to the Champions League places, Wilfred Ndidi has attracted interest from the very best around Europe. The Nigeria international joined Leicester in 2017 from Genk for a small fee of £15 million but could leave the King Power Stadium for a fee of up to £50 million in the summer. And with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly among those clubs interested according to ESPN, the 23-year-old will have a big decision to make in the summer.

A Big Loss For Leicester

Leicester City’s rise back to the top has been incredible under Brendan Rodgers, going from mid-table mediocracy to top four stardom in the space of a year. When comparing this side to the famous title winners in 2016, many have said that the current side seems to possess a better squad depth that is built for both the present and future of Leicester City. And with experienced players like Jamie Vardy and Jonny Evans combining with young talents such as Ndidi and Harvey Barnes, it’s difficult to argue with that statement.

One problem Leicester have faced in the past and will face once again in the near future is keeping hold of star players. With big clubs circling the Foxes’ top talent, players like Ndidi may be tempted to depart in favour of guaranteed trophies. And the fact is, Leicester cannot afford to lose players like Ndidi. The Nigerian has become one of if not the most important player for Leicester City, conceding just 19 goals in 23 games in the Premier League this season with him in the side.

Without the former Genk man, Leicester have struggled this season. In fact, the Foxes have picked up just five points out of a possible 18 without Ndidi this season, highlighting the Nigerians importance to the side.

Other Options For PSG

Despite providing PSG with a solid option when it comes to defensive midfielders in the summer, Ndidi is just one of several names mentioned to reportedly be on the Frenchmen’s radar in the summer as they look for a strong, athletic defensive midfielder. The Ligue 1 champions have also been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, who has a release clause of £43.7 million, and Chelsea flop, Tiemoue Bakayoko who has a release clause of £30 million.

This leaves PSG with a big decision to make in the summer as to who they splash the cash on with Nididi, Partey and Bakayoko all presented as viable options.
