Ed Woodward gave the 16-year-old Birmingham City starlet a tour of Manchester United’s training ground as they try to tempt him to make the move to Old Trafford. Though United are showing great interest, Borussia Dortmund are providing fierce competition.

Following Manchester United’s New Transfer Strategy
Bellingham would be the latest in a long line of young, British talent to join Manchester United in the last 12 months. Bellingham may join Dan James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire in this change of strategy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building a British core in his squad. Signing Bellingham, who European clubs rate highly, would be a massive step in the right direction.
Manchester United’s vice chairman, Ed Woodward, and chief gegotiator, Matt Judge, showed Bellingham around the training ground. Birmingham have given him permission to speak to other clubs over a summer move. United appear to very keen in his services and see this as a way of enticing him to a move to Old Trafford.
Bellingham is in such high demand because of his mature performances this season. The Englishman has started 25 games in the Championship for Birmingham this season. He has contributed with four goals and three assists in this time. He holds the record for Birmingham’s youngest-ever first-teamer, making his debut at 16 years and 38 days.
Borussia Dortmund were ‘very confident’ in their pursuit of Bellingham in January. However, it now looks like United have taken pole position. Manchester United are acting swiftly in this chase, which is a change from the norm. The change in transfer policy also includes that they are targetting summer deals in February. They hope this will make sure they stay ahead of the competition for their targets. Bellingham is touted as a generational talent, so they must act fast to get this deal finalised. Dortmund’s next move will be eagerly awaited.
