Sturridge was found guilty of providing his brother with inside information over the striker potentially moving to Sevilla. Initally, he was banned for two weeks and fined £75,000. However, the FA believed this punishment to be too lenient and appealed for harsher sanctions. Sturridge has now been fined £150,000 and been banned from football until June.
What Next for Daniel Sturridge?
Daniel Sturridge had been in fine form for Trabzonspor this season, scoring seven goals in 15 appearances. However, his time in Turkey has been marred by the same injury problems which proved to be his downfall at Liverpool.
The 30-year-old will be a free agent in June when his ban expires. He will provide a talented striking option for whichever club signs him, though he is also a risk due to his questionable fitness record.
Clubs such as Leganes and Atlanta United were linked earlier when the news broke that Sturridge had left Trabzonspor. It is likely that they will now turn to other options, as Sturridge is banned from all football-related activity until June which means that he will be unable to train.
It is more than likely that Sturridge will find a club upon the expiry of his ban, though it remains to be seen which one.
