Harvey Elliott to Sign Three-Year Contract With Liverpool in Summer
A Bright Future Ahead
Harvey Elliott caught the attention of many when he made his first-team debut for Fulham, aged just 15. Since then, he made a big-money move to Liverpool in a deal worth around £9 million. His first-team debut arrived in September when he started the 2-0 win away at MK Dons in the League Cup. In this game, he impressed with his unpredictability and energy.
Elliott has six goal contributions in 12 appearances for Liverpool’s U23 squad, whilst also featuring in both the League Cup and FA Cup three times each. His manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been impressed with what he has seen from the youngster so far, saying after the Arsenal game: “He is an exceptional talent, absolutely, and he’s a nice kid as well.
“I liked it a lot, he played really well, not like you would expect a 16-year-old boy to play, that’s cool.”
Elliott has been involved in some controversy in his short time at Liverpool. The FA banned him from footballing activities for 14 days after a video emerged of him imitating Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
The youngster is highly regarded by many at Liverpool, despite the off-field antics. This three-year contract is a sign of faith that Klopp has in him. Elliott will continue to ply his trade for the U23s whilst looking to break into the first team in cup competitions. He will also be looking to impress Aidy Boothroyd in England’s U21s set-up over the coming months.
