When Could He Play?
The young attacking midfielder could make his debut as soon as the next match, but he will play the remainder of this season with Real Madrid Castilla. For Flamengo, Reinier Jesus made 15 appearances, scoring six goals and supplying two assists, thus inspiring Flamengo to go on to win the Brazilian league title. He appeared on the bench for Flamengo during their Club World Cup final against Liverpool back in December, which the Reds went onto win through fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino’s goal.
Reinier’s primary position is attacking midfield – however, he is also able to play as a second striker and on the left-wing.
He won’t be the only young Brazilian at the club, with his compatriots Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes also having arrived from the Brazilian league. With the correct treatment and nurturing by the club, Reinier could well replicate past Brazilians’ successes at the club. Ronaldo, Robinho, Marcelo, Kaka (his success going beyond Madrid, too) could all be a good inspiration for the young Brazilian to shine at the Bernabeu.
Having represented Brazil at U23 level he brings an array of international youth experience and skill to the Castilla squad. The attacking midfielder’s fate next season could well be a valuable loan experience or first-team minutes. His creativity on the ball and skill are his foundations to his potential. Having captained Brazil U17 also signifies he will have a level of experience of leadership in his football.
