Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi accepted full responsibility after his side lost 1-0 at home to Charlton Athletic.
Sabri Lamouchi Takes Responsibility For Nottingham Forest Defeat
‘The Best Team Won’
The Frenchman took full responsibility after his side fell to a narrow defeat to the Addicks.
Lamouchi made five changes to the side that beat Leeds United on Saturday as he opted to rest a number of players ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Brom.
A number of changes were forced through injury, but Lamouchi accepted full responsibility for the defeat.
“Grabban didn’t play because he had a problem in his knee, like Samba Sow and Sammy Ameobi.” said the Reds boss.
“For Cashy and Yuri, it was a mistake not to keep the dynamic and tonight it was absolutely different to three days ago.
“There was no rhythm, no fight and not the same spirit. There were a lot of mistakes against five defenders who played so well. The best team won tonight.”
Forest missed the opportunity to move into the top two in the Championship following Lyle Taylor’s goal.
The hosts barely threatened during the first half, coming closest shortly after Taylor’s strike when Naby Sarr deflected Carl Jenkinson’s shot onto the crossbar.
Forest’s chances came more regularly in the second half but they continued to threaten only rarely.
Substitute Matty Cash came closest with a diving header that flew into the side netting, although the assistant referee had his flag raised for offside anyhow.
Lamouchi said: “It was a different night, a different atmosphere, a different result, a different performance.
“We made a lot of mistakes with some changes but the best team won.
“There was one chance in the first half, we gave them the chance to score and they scored.
“After that, they controlled the game and if we would have played for two or three hours, we wouldn’t have created a lot.
“It was a wrong night, a bad performance, and probably my mistake.”
Next up for Forest is a trip to Championship leaders West Brom on Saturday.
