Nottingham Forest fans will be hopeful of carrying on their fine form when Charlton Athletic visit the City Ground tonight (Tuesday 11 February).
Nottingham Forest Look to Back up Leeds United Victory When Charlton Athletic Visit
Red Hot Form
Sabri Lamouchi’s men enter this tie with the Addicks fresh from a hard-earned victory over Leeds United.
The Reds beat the Yorkshire outfit 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, with supporters hailing it one of their best performances this season.
Sammy Ameobi opened the scoring for Lamouchi’s side before Tyler Walker wrapped up the victory in second-half stoppage-time.
The win extends an impressive run of results for the Reds and leaves them just a point adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
Forest have lost just once in the league since December 26; collecting six wins and two draws.
Their rapid collection of points since the turn of the new year has allowed Forest to fly up the league, reigniting their chances of automatic promotion.
The important thing for Forest, however, is they back-up their huge victory over Leeds with another win.
Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic side sit above the relegation zone by just four points.
A win to avoid a relegation scrap is just as valuable to the Addicks as the three points would be beneficial to Lamouchi’s cause.
Team News
Bowyer will receive a boost to his side’s chances by the return of two star strikers.
Macauley Bonne was linked to Forest in the summer but instead opted to join the newly-promoted Addicks.
He could make the matchday squad for the first time since sustaining a hamstring injury in December.
Republic of Ireland international Aiden McGeady could make his Addicks debut after missing out at the weekend through illness.
Lyle Taylor’s role tonight was a questionable status but Bowyer calmed the area ahead of the trip to the City Ground, stating he would be fine to start.
Press Conferences
Lamouchi made no attempt to cast his eyes towards a promotion push. Instead, he took his usual stance of taking one game at a time.
He said: “I hope the belief is growing because if you don’t believe now, when will you believe? “They are working hard, they are doing well and they have beaten the best team in the league, and I feel more respect from the opposition.
“All of this will probably give them more confidence. But we have to be careful – and that is another part of my job – because more confidence can be dangerous.
“We have to keep our feet on the floor; be humble, but very determined. We need to be bold.”
Speaking ahead of the trip to Nottingham Forest, Bowyer spoke of his anticipation of a difficult fixture.
“It’s going to be tough,” said Bowyer. “They are not in third place for nothing.
“When we played them at our place I think we surprised them. We should’ve beaten them, I watched the game back yesterday. We were better than them on the night.
“We know we’re capable of doing that, it’s just a case of getting the weekend out of our system and going again. We have to try and win those individual battles more – because a lot of games are won or lost in midfield.”
