Bradford City Welcome Stevenage to Valley Parade

Bradford City

Stuart McCall’s Bradford City take on the bottom of the league Stevenage as he searches for his first win back in charge. Bradford are fresh from an agonising draw against Grimsby Town. The Mariners scored in the 92nd minute, snuffing out McCall’s hope of a dream start to his third stint as City manager.

Out of Form

Both teams come into the game out of form, Stevenage being the worst of the two. The Boro are in danger of being the only team leaving League Two this season after losing four in a row. They occupy the bottom spot and McCall will hope to use this chance to boost the Bantams.

Stevenage are struggling to keep clean sheets, failing to do so in their last six games. However, Bradford aren’t a free-scoring team and Stevenage will be desperate for a result. Although, the new manager seemingly boosted the players, as they put in a much-improved performance against a spirited Grimsby.

The weather will have an impact on the game as temperatures are likely to drop to around two degrees with high winds and a good chance of rain. Valley Parade’s pitch is not in the best condition at the moment and bad weather will only worsen the matter.

Bradford City Team News

Kurtis Guthrie could receive his first start against his former club after making a substitute appearance against Grimsby Town. Dylan Mottley-Henry also made a positive contribution and will be hopeful of a starting berth. Stuart McCall might also rest some players due to the short turn-around since their game on Saturday.

Stevenage Team News

Kelland Watts is still out with a knee injury, but January recruits Dan Kemp and Ben Folami could feature. Stevenage manager Graham Westley could make changes in preparation for the game as his side’s terrible run continues.

What to Expect

It is likely to be a tightly contested affair as both teams have been struggling in front of goal. Bradford City are favourites to win but will have to work hard to end the eight-game winless streak. As Stevenage are now five points behind Morecambe, each game is becoming a must-win or the points tally will be insurmountable.

The weather will likely hinder both teams and both teams will have to deal with the notorious Bradford City mid-winter pitch.
