Tomas Soucek is being heavily tipped with a move to West Ham, according to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian. In what looks like could be a good piece of recruitment, we will have a look at what kind of player he is and where he would fit in at West Ham.
Who is West Ham United Target Tomas Soucek?
Current Club – Slavia Prague
Being a defensive player, Tomas Soucek is seemingly a star player amongst many others in the Czech league with Slavia Prague. Normally deployed in a deep role in the middle of the park, Tomas Soucek is also able to play central defence.
Collecting valuable experience through the Czech giants Slavia Prague, Soucek is a seasoned player at the age of 24. Some invaluable experience came in the form of Champions League playing time at Slavia Prague. With the Czech giants being frequent contenders for the title, this meant the central midfielder was able to collect some league titles alongside cups.
Playstyle
Soucek is a commanding presence in central midfield. His captaincy at Slavia has most likely given him sky-high confidence in the way he plays. His moves deeper into defence gives the goalkeeper more fluid passing chances and pushes the full-backs to attack.
Soucek tends to begin attacks from his area of the midfield by starting plays forward. This makes him an important figure in attacking moves, playing long balls forward or stringing key passes in the engine room of the midfield.
Why Would He Fit at West Ham?
Recently being in bad form, West Ham are definitely on the lookout for a player who is ready to unleash potential. The Czech international is 24-years-old, meaning he is on the verge of entering his prime and could easily push for a starting place at the Hammers. Being a consistent player, Tomas Soucek will no doubt keep Declan Rice and the other midfielders on their toes in training, urging them to kick it up a notch.
With West Ham currently favouring an either 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1, Tomas Soucek would fit in behind the midfield. He is exactly the sort of figure West Ham need in their current fight for Premier League survival.
