Tranmere Rovers fans have reacted on Twitter following their humbling FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at Prenton Park.
Tranmere Rovers Fans React To Manchester United FA Cup Exit
‘One Better Than Last Year’
Manchester United score five times in a rampant first half performance to set the heavy tone at Prenton Park.
Harry Maguire opened the scoring on ten minutes with an emphatic finish from 20 yards; goals from Diogo Dalot and Jesse Lingard ensured the Red Devils had a healthy lead after just 16 minutes.
Phil Jones and Anthony Martial were also on-target in the first half before teenager Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot after the break,
Prenton Park was only confirmed as the host of Manchester United in the fifth round after an extra-time win over Watford on Thursday night.
The Whites’ busy League One schedule, along with hosting Liverpool’s women’s team, led to difficult conditions in Birkenhead.
One strip down the touchline in front of the dug-outs proved to be a treacherous zone; the pitch appeared a mixed form of part sand, part mud and part grass.
Despite the poor conditions on-the-field, and a difficult scoreline to swallow, Rovers fans had plenty to praise their team for.
Here’s what Tranmere Rovers had to say on Twitter at full-time.
I don’t care what the score was. Well done boys and well done everyone @TranmereRovers I love my team. #SWA

6-0 defeat. One better than last year I guess! United punished us. Clinical. We won’t play anyone like that for the rest of this season. We need to take confidence from the cup run, invest wisely, stay up and kick on onward and upward.#TRFC #SWA #FACup pic.twitter.com/IYRMUl4WOa

A very tough test today. Great effort and superb from the fans ??
Pitch wasn’t great but didn’t affect things.
Reckon we’ve given @ManUtd their highlight of the season ?
Time to count the cash. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards. #swa #tranmere #TRAMUN ?— LP Collings (@baracca47) January 26, 2020
