The talented defender spent the first half of this season at League One outfit Lincoln City.
However, the 22-year-old has been recalled in order to be dispatched to Joey Barton’s side instead.
Connolly, a former England international at various youth levels, has had successful loan spells with Barnsley, Wigan Athletic, Ipswich Town and now the Imps.
The defender is comfortable across the back-line and can feature in central midfield.
Having made over 150 career appearances, Connolly has made 84 appearances in the Championship.
After making his first signing of the window, Fleetwood boss Barton said: “We are really pleased to have brought Callum to the club.
“He is someone that we have been tracking for some time, so when the opportunity arose to bring him into our group we jumped at the chance.
“I feel that he will add to already strong group of characters that we have in the building, and we all look forward to seeing him perform for Fleetwood Town.”
Connolly added: “[I am] delighted to be here! Obviously, I was going to come here in the summer on loan again but it didn’t work out but now I’m just glad that I’m here now and hopefully I can kick on now for the rest of the season.
“We’ve got a big few months ahead, not just for me but for the club as well. It’s a club on the up.
“I know a few lads from before, the coaching staff seem great, facilities, they’ve got everything going for them.
“I couldn’t speak highly enough of them, as I said I’ve only been here one day but we’ve got everything to fit the bill, but we need to put performances into games.”
