Impressive In Midfield
Having moved to the County Ground in the summer, the 32-year-old has put in a number of impressive performances in midfield.
He has featured in all 20 games since his arrival. As a result, his performances have helped Swindon to occupy top spot in League Two, three points ahead of Exeter City in second.
Grant’s wealth of experience has eased the pressure on his fellow squad members in midfield. He has featured in a deeper role, allowed his team-mates to press further forward.
More recently, however, he has operated at centre-back due to a number of injuries.
Wealth Of Experience Will Help Swindon’s Promotion Push
Anthony Grant is an experienced midfielder in the Football League, meaning he will prove useful in Swindon’s push for promotion.
The 32-year-old started his career at Chelsea, making just one appearance for the Blues as a 90th-minute substitute.
He spent much of his career out on loan while at Stamford Bridge, with spells at clubs such as Wycombe Wanderers and Southend United.
It was at Southend where Grant finally settled and began his career. He spent four years with the Essex club.
Since 2012, Grant has had spells with a number of clubs, including Stevenage, Crewe Alexandra, Port Vale, Peterborough United and Shrewsbury Town.
Shrewsbury is where Grant joined Swindon on loan from. Having made 42 appearances during his first season with the Shrews, he was then ‘banished’ from the first-team set up in July 2019.
The Robins will now be hoping that Grant can help aid their promotion push at the third attempt after they suffered relegation from League One in the 2016-17 season.
