Rovers’ First January Signing
Brown joined Colchester for an undisclosed fee last summer having recorded 16 assists and eight goals from midfield.
The attacking midfielder has started five league games for John McGreal this season; however, with opportunities limited as the U’s gun for promotion, Brown is looking to increase his playing time.
The former Peterborough United playmaker has not featured for the U’s since November; he was a used substitute in the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town in the EFL Trophy.
25-year-old Brown moves to New Lawn as FGR’s first signing of the January transfer window; although, he reportedly turned down other interest from the fourth-tier to sign for Rovers.
Brown: Hopefully I Can Be a Part of Potentially Getting Them Promoted
Speaking after signing for the Gloucestershire club, Brown said: “I’m really looking forward to it and I just want to get myself back on the pitch and get some game time.
“The club is in a really good position going into the backend of the season with where they are in the table and hopefully I can be a part of potentially getting them promoted.
“In League Two, not many teams play football and Forest Green and a few others have that philosophy and it suits my style of play and is the kind of football I want to play.”
On what Rovers fans can expect from him, he added: “I like to get myself into nice areas and I have got an assist in me, so hopefully I can help the team get some goals, which, at the minute, looks like they are hard to come by.
“My best position is central, in the number 10 area, but I’ve played out wide on numerous occasion and it is just getting on the ball and finding the pass.”
Brown started his career as an MK Dons youngster and has represented Jamaica as a youth international.
