Bournemouth are one of numerous clubs keeping close tabs on Middlesbrough winger Marvin Johnson.
Bournemouth Keen on Championship Winger Marvin Johnson
The Premier League club are short of funds; therefore, manager Eddie Howe is reluctant to spend unless it is on a clear improvement on his current crop of players.
However, a report by Sky Sports claims that Bournemouth’s recruitment team are watching Johnson with the potential to lodge an offer.
Johnson’s contract expires this summer and he could, therefore, leave on a free transfer.
Johnson has made 22 appearances for Boro this season; he moved to the Riverside on a three-year deal on deadline day in August 2017 from Oxford United.
Middlesbrough take on Spurs in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Premier League Bournemouth are exploring various options with Ryan Fraser declining to extend his stay at the Vitality Stadium.
The talented winger has turned down all offers of a new contract; he is, therefore, expected to leave as a free agent in the summer.
Although, Fraser was a target for Arsenal back in the summer.
He was beaten only by Eden Hazard for the most Premier League assists; the Cherries’ winger grabbed 14 and netted seven goals.
His performances supposedly led to Arsenal enquiring about a potential transfer to the Emirates.
However, according to the Express, Bournemouth remain determined to keep the winger.
“The offer of a new long-term contract has been on the table for Ryan for some time,” read a statement from Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake in June.
“In September 2018, at the request of Ryan’s representative, negotiations were paused to allow the player to focus entirely on his football.
“He went on to have an outstanding season, with seven goals and 14 assists helping the club secure a fifth successive season of Premier League football.
“During that time, I have been – and continue to be – in regular dialogue with Ryan’s representative, and have made it clear to both him and the player that our contract offer remains on the table.”
