Salford City have had a busy day in the January transfer window; extending Craig Conway’s deal and signing Ashley Hunter from Fleetwood Town.
Double Joy for Salford City as One Stays and One Joins
Extended Deal
Ammies winger Conway has signed a new deal to keep him with Salford City until the end of the season.
Conway, 34, joined the League Two outfit in October on a short-term contract.
He has made 13 appearances since signing for the Lancashire-based side.
Scotland-born Conway began his career with Ayr before spells at Dundee United, Cardiff City, Brighton and Blackburn Rovers.
The winger made 200 appearances for Rovers before rejecting a new contract last summer.
Flying in to Salford City
Salford City have also signed forward Ashley Hunter on loan until the end of the season.
Hunter joins for the remainder of the campaign from Fleetwood Town.
The 24-year-old, who is a versatile attacker, has played 19 games in all competitions this season.
Hunter, born in Derby, has featured in 14 League One games; however, he started only once under boss Joey Barton as game time proved limited.
The 24-year-old has made 216 appearances for Fleetwood Town since signing from non-league side Ilkeston Town in January 2015; he has scored 36 goals during his four years at the club.
Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Cod Army boss Joey Barton said: “Ash Hunter is going to go out on loan. That has been agreed with Salford.
“He just needs to go and play football again, and decide he wants to be a professional footballer because we need good players.
“I don’t like losing Ash because when he came off the bench he was making an impact, but you can’t behave the way he does and expect to play in our football team, so hopefully he learns that lesson and comes back to give a good account of himself.”
