Nathan Jones has rejected an offer to return to management with Sky Bet League One side Bristol Rovers.
Nathan Jones Rejects Bristol Rovers Manager Offer
Football League Experience
Rovers have been without a boss since Graham Coughlan stepped down to take over at Mansfield Town.
The former Stoke City and Luton Town boss has reportedly rejected an offer to manage the Gas, according to BristolLive.
Jones, who was sacked by Stoke in November, was reportedly Rovers’ number one choice.
Bristol Live claim that the former Potters boss spoke with CEO Martyn Starnes over the weekend – the duo have experience working together having been a team at Yeovil Town.
Jones had a tumultuous time at the bet365 Stadium, failing to live up to the expectations of achieving promotion, but took Luton Town to the Championship.
The 46-year-old guided the Hatters to promotion from League Two and to a second-placed finish in the third tier.
He then departed for the bet365 Stadium in January this year.
Former Leeds Man
BristolLive also claim that former Leeds United and Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom is another candidate for the role.
They claim not to know whether the 42-year-old has been interviewed; Heckingbottom was sacked by Scottish side Hibernian in November.
Heckingbottom’s best time in the dugout came when he guided the Tykes to promotion from League One in 2016; Barnsley finished 14th the following season.
He then moved onto Leeds but was sacked after just four months in order for the board to appoint Marcelo Bielsa.
The former Barnsley boss was appointed Hibernian boss in February but a run of one win in 11 saw him receive the boot.
