EFL Transfer Rumours

Fulham Want James Justin on Loan

Football Insider are reporting that Championship side Fulham are interested in Leicester City’s James Justin. Promotion hopefuls Fulham are keen on Justin joining on loan until the end of the season. It is understood that contact has been made with a view to the right-back moving to Craven Cottage on loan.

Justin signed for City from Luton Town in the summer for an initial £7 million. This figure could rise to £10 million due to add-ons. Leicester are currently flying high in the Premier League and are at present third in the table. This form has led to Justin unable to find his way into Brendan Rodgers‘s Premier League starting 11. He has, however, featured in the EFL Cup.

Villa Linked to Millwall Star Jed Wallace

Aston Villa are being linked with a £10 million move for Millwall ace Jed Wallace. Birmingham Live report that Villa could make their move during the January transfer window. The 25-year-old midfielder has been in fine form under new manager Gary Rowett.   Five goals and two assists in his last nine games have helped the Lions to mid-table in the Championship.

Wallace, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers player, is experienced in the Football League; however, he is yet to play in the Premier League. He could get his chance should Villa swoop next month. Wallace began his league career at Portsmouth before moving on to Wolves in 2015. After two loan spells, a permanent move to London was agreed.

Huddersfield Town and Hull City Eye Striker

Bristol Live are reporting that Championship rivals Huddersfield Town and Hull City are set to do battle over forward Sammie Szmodics. Both clubs are keen to sign the Bristol City attacker on loan until the end of the season. The 24-year-old signed for City from Colchester United during the summer. However, his playtime has been restricted to just 86 minutes in the league.

Szmodics has struggled to make Lee Johnson’s matchday squads of late. A loan deal could suit all concerned. Huddersfield want Szmodics to take the burden off main striker Karlan Grant. Hull have concerns over their main man Jarrod Bowen and whether he will remain at the club past the transfer window. Signing Szmodics on loan could lessen the blow of losing Bowen.

Carlisle United Youngster in Demand

According to the Chronicle, Southampton are leading the chase to sign Carlisle United youngster Jarrad Branthwaite. The 17-year-old defender broke into United’s team this season and has played eight games for the Cumbrians. Newcastle United, Rangers and Celtic are also amongst those interested. The highly-rated centre-back has been tipped to have a bright future and his appearances so far have made top clubs take notice.

Robert Grieve of the Scottish Sun reports that both Rangers and Celtic have had Branthwaite watched. Celtic’s director of football Nicky Hammond is believed to have visited Carlisle to watch the youngster.
