Liverpool have reached the next stage to expand their Anfield home to around 60,000 by organising public consultation events.

Liverpool Plan For Further Anfield Expansion

Room To Grow

The Premier League leaders will invite local residents to the events to gain their views.

Liverpool will hope to expand their 54,074-capacity Anfield home by developing the Anfield Road End.

Over 5000 leaflets have been given out, outlining a series of consultation events.

The club had previously included the expansion of the Anfield Road End in the development proposals as part of their Main Stand expansion; however, the club opted to pursue “ambitious new plans” instead.

A statement by the club said: “The consultation events are designed for local residents, businesses and fans to learn more and offer their feedback on the club’s vision to create a bigger Anfield, which would allow more fans to watch some of Europe’s best football in a world-class facility.”

Another Expansion

Liverpool completed the expansion of their main stand in 2016 at a cost of £100 million.

The development brought their capacity to 54,074, increasing the old capacity by about 8,500.

Since opening in 1884 with a capacity of around 20,000, Anfield has continued to grow in size and stature.

Some supporters have been critical of Liverpool’s developments; however, their success on-the-field has created legitimate arguments for the Reds to grow off-the-field.

Jurgen Klopp has increased Liverpool’s chancing of winning a first Premier League title; achieving finishes of 8th, 4th, 4th and 2nd.

Since arriving in October 2016, Klopp has also added an historic sixth Champions League trophy to the honours list.

Therefore, with Liverpool currently leading the way in the top-flight, the ground development will allow for many more supporters to spectate one of the world’s best teams in the current climate.
