Liverpool could build a dynasty over the next few seasons that would see them be the Premier League’s powerhouse. There are people that suggest that the January transfer window is only used in dire need. However, the January transfer window can be a blessing for those who use it wisely. Although Jurgen Klopp has stated that he is happy with his midfield options, there is no harm in browsing the market for potential recruits. Liverpool are on the brink of a title-winning season and need to capitalise on their current strength.
In the short-term, Liverpool have got a great squad and do not have to buy in the January transfer window. However, this does not mean they should avoid scouting. Liverpool’s barren spell without a Premier League title will be enough motivation to think about future-proofing their club so that history does not repeat itself. The aim is not to win every title, every cup, and every game. The aim is to be a serious contender each season, to be able to compete on all fronts and have a big chance of winning a title or a cup. To do this, Liverpool’s management needs to make smart investments.
Where Can Liverpool Strengthen?
There is always room to improve and Liverpool’s squad is no exception. Without a doubt, Liverpool’s flying full-backs are a key component of their game plan. In spite of this, Klopp has very little permanent cover for these integral positions. James Milner would be able to step in at left-back for a game or two, but using him across a season would be detrimental. Over on the opposite-flank, if there were to be an injury to Trent Alexander Arnold it would be Joe Gomez stepping in. Moreover, Liverpool can now use their platform to entice up and coming stars and established names, such as Kylian Mbappe. With this in mind, it would make sense for the board to pledge money to make sure the club stays at the top of the food chain.
