Ahead of the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Gunners boss Unai Emery confirmed that embattled captain Granit Xhaka will not feature this weekend.
Granit Xhaka Will Not Face Wolves
Team News
Arsenal will be without Reiss Nelson, who is still recovering from a knee injury sustained against Standard Liege last month. However, Unai Emery did not speak of the young winger.
The head coach instead focused on Granit Xhaka, who will miss out for other reasons. Emery told the media ahead of the match against Wolves:
“It’s not in my mind that he will play tomorrow. I think that tomorrow, he is not going to play. I think that now, we need to be focused on the match at 100 per cent. Now we are going to train but at the moment, he’s not in my mind [to play].”
Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo will have to absentees of his own to deal with. Wily Boly and Morgan White-Gibbs are both set to miss the match with ankle and back injuries respectively.
Prediction
Wolves were the darlings of the league last season, gaining Europa League football in the first season back in the top flight. However, this campaign is much different with the strain of the continent.
The side from Molineaux have just two wins to their name thus far this season, although both have come in the last five matches. Much like the Gunners, Wolves are finding scoring difficult with just 13 goals to their name.
Arsenal are also struggling in their own right coming off two bad results. Crystal Palace held them to a draw despite going down by two early on while Sheffield United managed to defeat the Gunners the week before.
However, the smart money is on the Arsenal who will want to put a week from hell behind them.
Prediction: Arsenal 3 Wolves 2
