Arsenal Loan Watch: William Saliba Helps Keep Clean Sheet

Arsenal Loan Watch

Arsenal have four senior players spending the season on loan elsewhere. Just how did they get on with their temporary clubs this weekend? Here is your Arsenal loan watch.

Arsenal Loan Watch: Saliba Key for Saint-Etienne

William Saliba

The French centre-back recently returned from a minor injury for Saint-Etienne. He didn’t need long to get back in the swing of things, however, as he helped his side to three points and a clean sheet against Lyon.

Saliba made one interception, one block, two tackles and three clearances in the 90 minutes. He also helped offensively, completing three of his six attempted long balls.

The only goal of the match came very late on with Robert Beric striking at the death to earn a 1-0 win for the home side.

Eddie Nketiah

Striker Eddie Nketiah has impressed with Leeds United already this season. However, he couldn’t prevent his loan club from falling to Millwall 2-1.

Nketiah came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute with the visitors already one goal down. The Arsenal man could not find a breakthrough meaning that Leeds now sit fifth in the Championship table.

Mohamed Elneny and Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Eleny is spending the season with Besiktas and Mkhitaryan with AS Roma. The former is back available for selection following a domestic suspension while the latter has contributed positively for his loan club thus far.

However, neither were selected to play for their respective loan clubs over the weekend.

Youth Players

The club also has three youth players spending the season on loan, so no Arsenal loan watch would be complete without them.

Goalkeeper Deyan Iliev played the full 90 minutes for Slovakian side SKF Sered as they lost 1-0 to Zilina. Meanwhile, Jordi Osei-Tutu was an unused substitute for Bochum as they beat Heidenheim 3-2.

Finally, Ben Sheaf played the full match for Doncaster Rovers as they lost at home to Portsmouth.
