German Giants Chase Championship Teenage Sensation

From Birmingham To Munich

16-year-old Jude Bellingham is subject to transfer interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The interest comes fresh off the back of the German side’s 7-2 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

Bellingham could become the latest in a series of English talents to make the move overseas to improve their careers. According to Mike McGrath of The Sun, Munich have added the 16-year-old to the list of teenagers they home to bring to Germany.

The Blues midfielder has featured in six Sky Bet Championship fixtures so far this term; he has found the net twice, scoring against Charlton Athletic and Stoke City.

According to The Sun, scouts from a number of Europe’s elite sides travelled to Derby County to watch him last weekend; however, he was left as an unused substitute.

European Interest

Bellingham’s red-hot form in the England youth set-up has led to high levels of interest from overseas.

The England Under-17 international is a summer target for Bayern after they missed out on Chelsea‘s Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Bundesliga leaders eventually settled for Jamal Musiala and Bright Akwo Arrey-Mbi instead after being unable to sign Hudson-Odoi.

The 16-year-old captained England’s Under-17s to the Syrenka Cup last month; meanwhile, he has scored two goals in three games for the Young Lions and previously scored four goals in seven outings for the Under-16s.

Record Breaker

Bellingham’s winner at Stoke on August 31st declared him as City’s youngest ever scorer, finding the net at 16 years and 63 days.

Speaking about becoming a new record holder at St Andrews, Bellingham said: “It was a dream come true. It’s what I’ve dreamt of since I was seven years old, as soon as I joined the Academy.

“A goal in front of the Tilton End, then into the crowd and that’s exactly what happened! As soon as that ball hit the net, I was off to celebrate with my people!

“Lukas had to save me from getting a booking but I’m a fan as well, so me being in there felt like celebrating as a boy. Scoring here made it even more special.”
